The brief for this interior refit combined a clear programme of spaces with something less common: a distinct mood for each one. Conservatory flair, colonial porch, Dark Academy, Shanghai style, a surfer girl's retreat, glam bedroom, Southern veranda — each room carries its own atmosphere, its own cast of references, its own emotional register. The design by Nilüfer Kozikoğlu holds these distinct worlds together not by flattening them into a single aesthetic but by treating the home as a curated sequence of experiences, each one complete in itself and yet part of a coherent whole.
The material and spatial vocabulary is deliberately layered. The reception doubles as a winter garden, biophilic and sun-touched, opening onto a veranda in the Southern tradition. The L Room is comfortably anchored, with a fireplace and the warmth of collected things. The study leans into Dark Academy — rich wood panelling, glazed bookshelves, a contemplative density that contrasts with the brightness elsewhere. The kitchen is fresh and generous, with a double-deck island and built-in details. The hallways are not afterthoughts but connective spaces with their own presence, while the master suite moves between glam and intimacy, with Juliette balcony detailing and ceiling treatments that give the bedroom a choreographed sense of arrival.
Light was taken seriously from the outset: sun path studies informed every room, from the reception's conservatory logic that remains bathed in light across seasons, to the careful shading of the west facade in summer. Throughout, the project is attentive to the personal. The porch closes the sequence with a simple instruction: enjoy life. This is residential design that earns that kind of lightness, because the work behind it is thorough. Sun angles, structural modifications, joinery details, bespoke wallcoverings, considered supplier selections — all of it in service of a home that feels, in every room, exactly like itself.
