Urban Atolye addresses the various scales, from spatial design to interfaces, through organic and synthetic operations for research, design, and production. Since 2009, at its location in Maslak, it has become a production, research, and knowledge-skills laboratory where digital techniques meet craftsmanship and raw and processed materials are reinterpreted, participating in international exhibitions, shows, and biennials such as IABA, Milan Design Week, and the London Design Festival.

UA has been the hub for the research Alveosis initiated by Nilüfer Kozikoğlu that now has a process based patent on fabric-cast spray-on concrete shells. Kozikoğlu conducts international collaborations and design research on materials and structural processes, has various academic papers and is the creative behind the software projects such as Spacechase and T’dice.

As a hub of detail and design, Urban has been instrumental in various architectural and interior projects, both in design as well as the realization of spaces for quality of life, and spatial playfulness.

Guided by the motto “Produce for Design, Design for Production,” Urban Atolye operates as a collective workshop for artists, architects, and designers; processed and raw materials, technology and craftsmanship, and organic and synthetic methods work.
